Enabling Hydrogen Transportation for a Sustainable Future
The most advanced technology to make high-purity hydrogen available.
The problem
The Hydrogen transport
Meeting Net Zero targets will require large volumes of low-carbon hydrogen to decarbonize hard to abate industrial sectors, heavy duty mobility, and other potential new usages to be developed. However, regions like Europe and East Asia face shortages and high prices for low carbon hydrogen, and importing it becomes a real opportunity.
The lack of efficient long-distance transport solutions is a major challenge, with existing technologies adding up to 80-300% to the cost of producing hydrogen. Carriers like ammonia or methanol offer promising options for long-distance transport given their well established manufacturing process, supply chain and regulatory framework, while offering higher energy densities and simpler storage requirements compared to liquid hydrogen.
H2SITE’s solution
H2SITE’s solutions enable hydrogen transportation for a sustainable future
H2SITE’s membrane reactor technology allows hydrogen to be separated from molecules that are easy to move, easy to produce, and have a known regulatory framework such as ammonia, methanol, syngas…
But also filter the hydrogen mixed with other gases in existing pipelines, salt caverns, aquifers or other storage infrastructure…
You can think of our solution as a box with rods in it, and these rods are our membranes. When a molecule containing hydrogen enters the box, it will be split. The first thing that the hydrogen sees is the membrane, which is extremely selective to it. Membranes will absorb the hydrogen with +99% purity, no moving parts, and very high conversion efficiency.
H2SITE’s Membrane benefits
Advanced membrane reactors allow to extract more hydrogen at lower working temperature.
Integrated membrane solutions maximize feedstock conversion and hydrogen extraction.
Palladium-alloy membranes are selective to only hydrogen with the highest permeation.
Easy to operate and robust systems that can process multiple feedstock adapting to customer needs.
Palladium-alloy membranes for high purity hydrogen
These membranes are integrated in advanced reactors and separators solutions that recovers up to 98 % of the hydrogen to offer high efficiency.
