H2SITE in H2INTEGRA
H2SITE in H2INTEGRA will develop a system capable of separating high purity hydrogen from the gas distribution network to add value within a broader ecosystem of generation, transportation, distribution and consumption of this hydrogen.
To this end, H2SITE will be responsible for the design and integration of a separation system with palladium-silver alloy membrane technology to produce hydrogen with a purity greater than 99.9 %. This system will produce a high purity stream on the permeate side and a methane-enriched stream on the retained side, tailoring the output stream to the needs of the end user.
Variable mixtures of hydrogen and natural gas (from 2 to 30 % H2) at the inlet of our system will be achieved at the outlet:
- Concentrated natural gas stream (H2 < 2 %) for use in any application where a methane-rich stream is needed, such as gas stations for urban mobility.
- High purity hydrogen that can be fed to a fuel cell for mobility applications or electric power generation.
This system enables the use of hydrogen in currently available infrastructure to facilitate the storage and transport of hydrogen over long distances at the most competitive cost, while protecting existing gas consumers and enabling new applications for the decarbonization of industry.
